Nevadans Travel South of Minden to Try Hand at Lottery Luck

Just four miles from the Nevada border, one small town cafe sold more than $20,000 in lottery sales in just one day. There are enough Nevadans crossing the state line to buy tickets, the owner of Mad Dog Cafe, Jennifer Quillici says it's the fourth highest lottery seller in Northern California.

A "lucky retailer" sign posted outside, shows that it has indeed been lucky before. Quillici says, "Two years ago, [a man won] a quarter of a million dollars and he always comes back and buys some more tickets."

During bigger pots like the current $1 billion, the shop will see about 400 to 500 players a day, all vying to beat those one in 300 million odds.

Mad Dog Cafe is located at 290 Old Pony Express Way, Markleeville, CA 96120.
