Nevada's Shrum Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Senior infielder Dillan Shrum has been named to CoSIDA’s Academic All-District first team. Majoring in biology, Shrum carries a 3.58 GPA while also ranking second among active Mountain West baseball players with 23 career home runs.

After being named All-District, Shrum is now eligible to become a CoSIDA Academic All-American. The senior is the first recipient of this honor for the Wolf Pack baseball team since 2018, when Mike Echavia also earned first-team honors as a designated hitter.

The El Cajon, Calif. native has been one of the Pack’s most consistent players during his four years, appearing in 141 contests and batting .298. Shrum has totaled 99 RBI, 34 doubles, three triples and 23 homers to go along with 142 hits. As Nevada’s primary first basemen during his tenure, he boasts a .996 fielding percentage with 924 putouts and only four errors.

Even with the shortened 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Shrum led Nevada with 13 hits, four doubles, seven RBI, four homers and seven walks. He started all 14 contests, making appearances both at first base and as the team’s designated hitter.

In the limited number of games this season, Shrum was still able to earn All-Mountain West honors for the first time in his career. He slashed .265 on the year to lead the Pack.
