New Area Restaurants Open for Foodies to Try

Last year WalletHub named Reno one of the best foodie cities for your wallet and this year the Biggest Little City is still living up to that name. Several new restaurants have been opening all around town - a good sign for the economy.

Looking for a sizzling place to start eating…we checked out some of the newest places around town. Our first stop was Pedalers Deli.  It's right off the bike path, so the name is fitting.

"We've got a pretty cool bike-vibe. Me and my wife are pretty avid cyclists,” says Jeremy DeMarzo, Pedalers Deli & Icycle Creamery.

And everything on the menu here is under $10. "We serve great sandwiches. We have fresh baked bread every day. I've got something special that I don't think anybody does in Reno called porchetta on sandwiches which is a roasted pork loin."

They already have plans to expand. "We're going to end up adding the ice cream shop to the place in about a month or so."

Next we checked out a spot tucked away along California Avenue.

Centro Bar & Kitchen has been open for just nine days... and they say business has been great.

"Everything is served as its made.. hot and ready to go in a small plate fashion,” says Centro Bar & Kitchen General Manager Ryan Harris.

Instead, the concept behind this restaurant is to get a taste of everything. "We're not a restaurant where you buy one large dish and kind of get stuck with that. We want you to have as many flavor options as you can."

The options are quite unique. "If you look at the menu, it's completely different from anywhere else…Polpo alla plancha, which is a grilled octopus…We do sticky ribs which are one of our favorite things. It's a kind of like a fish sauce done with little mini ribs."

Restaurant owners say these additions are a perfect fit for a growing foodie city. And with so many news businesses making plans to come to Reno, right now appears to be the best time for new food businesses to start opening up.

"Every single table I've had is just excited and that's what I want. I just want people to be happy, excited and have an experience."
