Crosswalk

The Reno Police Department's Traffic Division issued 135 tickets, 55 warnings and arrested a single person for DUI as part of pedestrian and school zone safety operations conducted this month.

The operations happened from March 4th to March 22nd in designated pedestrian safety zones downtown and in school zones suggested by citizens who observed unsafe driving in those zones.

10 officers worked on the operations, which focused on drivers and pedestrians who were violating those laws that enhance pedestrian safety, a release from the Reno Police Department said.

Nevada state law requires pedestrians to use sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian bridges and obey all traffic-control signs and signals.

If there is no sidewalk, pedestrians must walk on the left side of the street, facing traffic.

Drivers must yield to pedestrians and avoid passing vehicles that are stopped for pedestrians.
