Nevada State Police responded to a crash in Fallon that killed two people on Monday morning.
It happened just before 10 a.m. in the area of McLean Road and Casey Road in Churchill County.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a sedan was t-boned by a semi-truck at the McLean Road and Casey Road intersection when the sedan failed to stop at the stop sign.
The semi-truck struck the right side of the sedan and it was pushed into a water canal.
People who saw the crash tried to rescue the people trapped in the car, but were unable to reach them.Â
The Churchill County Sheriff's Office, Nevada State Police, Fallon Police Department, Fallon/Churchill Fire Department, and Banner Medics all responded.
A man and woman in the sedan were pronounced dead on-scene, according to a Nevada State Police spokesperson.
They have been identified as Fallon residents Sheryl Evans, 73, and Christopher Jenkins, 42.
This marks the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol – Northern Command West's 39th fatal crash, resulting in 45 fatalities this year.
