On New Year's Eve many people will go out and toast the new year, some with champagne, but others may want a sober alternative.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve 4th Street Brewery is hosting a sober night for people who would like an alcohol-free celebration.

Paul Kotler, the Owner of 4th Street Brewery says “We’re having a punk rock flee market tonight with three bands that are playing all original music! Please come out and enjoy, everybody’s welcome! All ages are welcome!”

Kotler said he thinks there is a cultural expectation of drinking on New Year's Eve, but he says if you've been around the block a few times you may not want to go out during what he calls armature night.

“It’s culturally acceptable that people are drinking and partying and celebrating New Year's that way, but it doesn’t have to be that way, and the whole point of this place is to provide people with options.”

He also says the feedback he's received of having a bar like this has been really good, and a lot of people wonder why it hasn't been a more prominent business model in the Biggest Little City.

He explains the atmosphere of the brewery.

“It provides all the benefits of a bar," he said. "Social interaction, pool tables, entertainment, just a good time with no alcohol. And people can have a good time with no alcohol and drugs involved so that’s what we’ve created.”

Kotler says the brewery is a great bar alternative because you're getting the same interactions you would experience in a bar setting with alcohol, except you're not drinking or dehydrating yourself.

If you're curious, they offer a range of mocktails, non-alcoholic beer and coffee.
