Honors Escort

VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System announced on Tuesday that 97-year-old Donald Toal passed away.

Donald Toal was a U.S. Army veteran who served as a Rifleman in World War II.

He served from October 1944 to October 1945. He was in Germany in April of 1945 when he sustained a head injury due to gunfire.

He returned to the United States and was honorably discharged in October of 1945.

Toal moved to Sun Valley, Nevada in 2018.

Although he had little memory of the war, he said, "The Germans couldn't kill me."

VASNHCS provided Toal, along with his family members, an Honors Escort.Â
