The Biden-Harris campaign has established ten offices across the Silver State, including five in northern Nevada.
These five offices are the only presidential campaign offices currently operating in Northern Nevada, with two located in Reno, and the others in Carson City, Minden, and Sparks.
We met with former Democratic Lt. Governor Kate Marshall, who previously served as a senior official in the Biden Administration, at the Biden-Harris office in Sparks.
"What's important is that when you open an office, you say I know you live here, and I am going to meet you where you are. I am going to come to your home. I am going to be in your neighborhood; I will come to the businesses that you frequent," said former Democratic Lt. Governor Kate Marshall.
The Biden-Harris campaign offices will run phone banks, write letters, and stage door-knocking canvassing all over Washoe County.
Thousands of volunteers across the state have already begun training.
According to Marshall, the level of organization in northern Nevada for this campaign is reminiscent of the Harry Reid machine in 2010, a campaign which they narrowly won.
"There are ten offices. Five of them here in northern Nevada: two in Reno, one in Sparks, one in Minden, and one in Carson City. The Trump administration campaign has zero offices. They had a Latino community center in Vegas, and they shut it down. RFK Jr.? Zero offices," explained Marshall.
The Biden Administration has launched "Latinos con Biden-Harris," a grassroots initiative aimed at winning over Latino voters.
"Latinos in Northern Nevada have grown substantially. We are about 30 percent of the population in Washoe County, in Reno and Sparks, and we're seeing those same statistics in our municipalities. And so, I think it's important that everybody is included in that conversation," said Ward 3 Reno City Councilman Miguel Martinez.
According to exit polls from 2020, Joe Biden won over Latino voters by a margin of two to one.
However, recent data suggests that former President Trump has been gaining some ground and Biden may be losing some of his advantage. It's worth noting that it was the Latino community that helped secure Biden's victory in the previous election.
CNN recently interviewed Valeria Gurr, a resident of Las Vegas, who is among the many Latinos in Nevada who are considering voting for Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
Gurr cites the former president's support for school choice as the reason for her switch, which she believes is an important issue for Hispanic and Latino parents.
She claims that President Biden has not taken any significant action on this issue at the federal level. Gurr published an op-ed piece in The Hill entitled: You want Latino votes? Improve our children’s education
"As an immigrant, first-generation American, I think about the future of my family and the future of the Hispanic community, and I need action, and I need access to quality education, and this issue has particularly failed my community," said American Federation for Children Senior Fellow Valeria Gurr.
Real Clear Politics poll average for Nevada shows that former President Trump is leading President Biden by + 4.5 Points.
We contacted the Trump Campaign to inquire about their campaign plans in Nevada, and they provided us with the following statement:
"We have paid staffers and volunteer-powered field programs in every battleground state, including Nevada, and they are expanding daily. Our aggressive and experienced operation is focused on turning out votes and highlighting the contrast between Joe Biden's weakness and failures with President Trump's record of success," said a statement from Karoline Leavitt, National Press Secretary for the Trump campaign.
