As snow falls in the Sierra and in some parts of northern Nevada, chain controls are in effect over mountain passes.
Controls are up along portions of I-80 and Mt. Rose Highway.
There are also controls in place on U.S. 50, California State Route 89, California State Route 267, and California State Route 88.
Additionally, controls have been set up on Kingsbury Grade and Geiger Grade Road,
There is also a wind alert in place on U.S. 395 through the North Valleys to the California border.

Chain controls are being put in place in the Sierra as snow starts to fall.
In an online post, Caltrans says chains are required on I-80 eastbound at Kingvale to Truckee and westbound at the Donner Lake Interchange to Eagle Lakes. Â
