The USDA Forest Service - Plumas National Forest has announced news of a lightning fire in the Beckwourth Ranger District.

According to officials, there were at least 14 lightning strikes on the district during Thursday night's thunderstorm, resulting in one confirmed fire.

The "Davis Fire" is burning southeast of Murdock Crossing, northeast of Lake Davis.

The fire is roughly three-quarters of an acre in size and burning in challenging terrain with no access.

Officials say the fire is fully contained, and firefighters are in the process of doing mop-up work.

Firefighters want to remind area residents and visitors to be careful with anything that can spark a wildfire and to help prevent additional fires. Â
