Two people have been arrested in Churchill County following a report of theft last month.
On March 25, Churchill County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Lahontan Dam Road on reports of theft.
An investigation led to stolen property being found at another location in the area, according to a post from the Sheriff's Office on Facebook.
At that location, the stolen property was retrieved, and deputies located two suspects, identified as 33-year-old Eric McKendall and 46-year-old Angela Westerlund.
Additional stolen property was also found at the location linked to other burglaries in Churchill County.
Investigators also recovered a gun that had been reported stolen out of North Dakota.
McKendall and Westerlund were both arrested and booked into the Churchill County Detention Center.
They are facing charges including home invasion, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen vehicle, burglary of a motor vehicle, tampering with a motor vehicle, destroying or concealing evidence, possession of a firearm by an ex-felon, and obtaining and using personal identifying information to avoid or delay prosecution.
McKendall was also found to have an active misdemeanor warrant and a felony warrant issued out of Washoe County.
On March 27, deputies returned to Lahontan Dam Road and again spoke with Westerlund, who had been released from custody.
During the interaction, Westerlund allegedly committed additional criminal violations and was again taken into custody and booked into the Churchill County Detention Center on charges including residential burglary first offense, home invasion first offense, resisting a public officer, and trespass.
The investigation remains ongoing.
