An officer with the Nevada National Guard took first place in this year's annual Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Run 50K.
Chief Master Sgt. Chris Barber completed the roughly 31-mile course in 4 hours, 59 minutes, according to a post on Facebook from the Nevada National Guard.
The Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Run usually offers a 100K race, according to the Nevada National Guard website. Barber has completed that race six times and finished third in 2018.
Construction in the area of the race this year forced organizers to cut the race to 50K.
Barber trained for months for the July 17 race, including road runs and climbing Peavine Mountain.
