According to a post from the CHP South Lake Tahoe Facebook page, at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, an overlength semi-truck traveling north on SR-89 became stuck on the rocks in the switchbacks south of Emerald Bay.
A tow truck was dispatched to assist in removing the big-rig.
Traffic in the area was restricted to one-way control while efforts to free the truck were underway, and drivers were advised to expect delays.
In the post, CHP says they had the roads closed for approximately three hours.
The roads were reopened at 7:00 p.m.
CHP says that big rig trucks with an overall length in excess of 65 feet are not permitted on SR-89 north of the “Y.” As a result, the driver was cited for the violation.
