Reno is set to host a hiring event that could put people to work the same day they apply.
Allied Universal, a security and facility services provider, is looking to fill armed security professional positions during an event scheduled for Tuesday.
The hiring event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at Reno City Hall, located at 1 E 1st Street.
People attending are asked to park on any floor of the parking garage except the ground floor and check in at the first-floor lobby.
The company says it is offering on-the-spot job offers for qualified applicants. Positions include responsibilities such as conducting routine patrols, staying visible to deter incidents, responding when issues arise, documenting activity, and communicating with staff and visitors.
Officials say multiple shifts are available, including full-time schedules, with pay up to $25 per hour. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered to fully licensed PILB-armed officers. Paid training is also included, along with opportunities for advancement through a promote-from-within culture.
Veterans are encouraged to apply, and applicants with military or law enforcement experience are required for some roles.
To qualify, people must be at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and may need a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for certain positions. A background investigation is required, and applicants may be subject to a drug test as permitted by law. The company says candidates should have more than 3 years of combined law enforcement, military, or security experience, or a college degree. The ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred, as is an armed guard card.
Applicants are asked to bring a valid ID, a PILB work card if applicable, and an updated resume.
“Allied Universal offers careers and long-term growth in the thriving and essential security industry,” said Steve Jones, global chairman and CEO of Allied Universal. “We have countless examples of individuals who began their career as a security professional and are in senior leadership positions today.”
