Crosswalks near schools in Incline Village are being restriped ahead of the new school year, including crossings serving Incline Village Middle School, as part of an effort to improve pedestrian safety.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County said the work is being completed through its existing pavement preservation contract with Sierra Nevada Construction.
The project is part of the agency's ongoing work across Washoe County to respond to pedestrian safety needs as they arise.
Incline Village is also scheduled to receive a broader slurry treatment within the next two years. As part of that project, roadway striping throughout the area will be refreshed.
"Making sure students have safe, clearly marked crossings before the school year starts is exactly the kind of work RTC shows up for across every corner of Washoe County," said Alexis Hill, RTC Board chair and Washoe County commissioner. "This is responsive government in action.”
