The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is asking for your help identifying the suspect in a recent alleged car theft.

Friday morning around 9:30 a.m., the department received a report of a stolen car on Lodi Avenue.

After a search, a detective found the car in the parking lot of the South Tahoe Middle School at around 9:50 a.m.

Not knowing if the car was occupied or not, the police had South Tahoe Middle School placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Officers were able to confirm that the suspect was no longer in the car, and the school was able to lift the lockdown after about ten minutes.

Later, SLTPD officers found a suspect matching the description they'd received using video surveillance. She was uncooperative and allegedly under the influence of controlled substances.

After an investigation, the female suspect was arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Jail for theft of a motor vehicle and delaying/resisting/obstructing an officer.

The car was returned to its owner after being processed for evidence.

The suspect has not been positively identified, as she provided multiple names and dates of birth to the police upon her arrest.

If anyone knows the suspect identity or any information about this incident, please call the South Lake Tahoe Police Department at (530) 542-6100.
