The Market at Markleeville will return to downtown Markleeville, starting this Saturday.
Offering an opportunity for the public to connect with local artists, crafters, producers, growers, and nonprofit organizations.
The event is produced by Sierra Chef and will take place on select Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The market will feature live music performances by local musicians, a variety of handmade items such as jewelry, paintings, ceramics, sculptures and textiles, and food items including artisanal cheeses and baked goods.
In addition, nonprofit organizations will be present to share their missions and engage with attendees.
The scheduled market dates are May 31, June 28, July 26, August 30 and September 20.
On those days, Montgomery St. in Markleeville will be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local residents will still have access via a detour on Laramie St.
A letter from JT Chevallier, Economic Development Director for Alpine County, was sent to Montgomery St. residents regarding the closure. It stated, "The closure is necessary to ensure the safety and success of the event and attendees." He added, "We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to make the Market at Markleeville a successful and enjoyable event for the community."
