A man faces up to 16 years in prison after being convicted of shooting another man in Reno last September.
The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says Eddie Lao-Rodriguez has been convicted of Battery with the Use of a Deadly Weapon and Own or Possess a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.
Prosecutors say Lao-Rodriguez and a visiting friend got into an argument over cars and money when Lao-Rodriguez shot him in the legs and continued to shoot the victim as he ran away.Â
Authorities say officers found the gun and related items throughout the house and yard.
Sentencing is set for May 26th.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2025:
A man was arrested in connection with a shooting that injured another man in Reno on Monday night.Â
Police say they were called to a hospital emergency room around 7 p.m. where they were told that 39-year-old Eddie Lao-Rodriguez had shot the victim at the suspect's home.
Police say the 46-year-old victim got into an argument with the suspect and that's when Lao-Rodriguez shot him - at his North Virginia Street home.Â
He was later released from the hospital.Â
Lao-Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Jail for Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.
This investigation is still ongoing.
