A small wildfire is under investigation after sparking near South Lake Tahoe.

The Jicarilla Fire grew to an acre and a half before firefighters completed a hand line around the fire and stopped its progress, according to a post from the U.S. Forest Service on X.

U.S. Forest Service firefighters remained on scene overnight, with support from Cal Fire. Other local agencies have been released.

The U.S. Forest Service in Lake Tahoe confirmed a small wildfire burning near South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday evening.

The fire is burning off Pioneer Trail, according to a post from the Forest Service on X.

It is called the Jicarilla Fire and is around a quarter of an acre.

Helicopter support has been ordered.
