The Carson City Sheriff's Office is interviewing multiple people in relation to a sex trafficking investigation.

The Sheriff's Office got information on Saturday, February 10th that a sex trafficking operation from California had arrived in the city on Friday, February 9th.

The information alleged that around nine people were involved, including three men who were said to be heavily armed according to a release from the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

The FBI's Human Exploitation and Trafficking Task Force was immediately brought in to help, and the Sheriff's Office received search warrants for multiple rooms at the America’s Best Value Inn on South Carson Street.

The warrants were executed by SWAT, Special Enforcement, and FBI task force members due to the threat level involved.

The search warrants were served around 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, and SWAT team members took four men and five women into custody. Those people are still being interviewed and no formal arrests have been made or charges filed.

While searches are continuing, weapons and controlled substances have been seized, the Sheriff's Office says.

In advance of the search warrant execution, the Sheriff's Office brought in sexual assault advocates and additional support services so they would be available to provide direct support throughout the operation.
