Firefighters have contained a fire in the Topaz Ranch Estates area of Douglas County that began as a structure fire and spread into nearby wildland.

According to an August 7 update from the East Fork Fire Protection District (EFFPD) on Facebook, crews responded just after 2 p.m. to a structure fire near Sunrise Court.

With support from local and federal mutual aid partners, firefighters contained the fire to a single residence. No other homes were affected.

The wildland portion of the fire was held to under one acre.

One person was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. Earlier reports of two dogs inside the home were confirmed, both were found safe and uninjured.
