Original story August 2:

Forward progress has been stopped on the Peavine Fire tonight in the area of U.S. 395 & White Lake Parkway.

Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue (TMFR) reported around 8:30 p.m. that forward progress has been stopped on the fire, which is estimated to have burned around 75 acres in an area south of Cold Springs.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, the initial response was a combined effort between themselves, TMFR, Reno Fire Department, Sparks Fire Department, the Bureau of Land Management and Nevada State Police.

The fire was threatening around 50 buildings, and moving at a high rate of speed, but TMFR says that no buildings were lost and no injuries were reported.

Fire crews will be working in the area overnight mopping up the fire.

All evacuation areas that had been set up for the fire have now been lifted, according to Perimeter Map.

U.S. 395 was closed in all directions near the area of the fire, but has since been re-opened.

Around 2,800 customers are still without power in the Stead/Cold Springs area due to de-energization to help with the fire fighting effort, according to the NV Energy Outages page. No reactivation time has been listed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
