OCTOBER 22 UPDATE:
 
If you noticed smoke and haze in our area on Wednesday it was likely from a prescribed burn in the Hobart Mills area near Dog Valley Road.
 
The burn is expected to last through Friday, depending on weather conditions.
 
ORIGINAL ARTICLE:
The Forest Service is conducting a prescribed burn in the Hobart Mills area in Sierra County.
 
The burn will take place near Dog Valley Road for the next three days
 
Even though the burn is not directly within Sierra County, the Forest Service says smoke may be visible from Highway 89 and the Stampede Reservoir area.
 
Separately, they also say a prescribed burn is planned near Independence Lake that may be visible from Highway 89.
