UPDATE: Due to a Critical Fire Weather Warning this weekend, the smoke/controlled burn portion of Saturday’s Wildfire Evacuation Drill has been canceled. All other parts of the drill will continue as planned.

The Storey County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) and Storey County Emergency Management are encouraging all Virginia City Highlands residents to participate in an upcoming wildfire drill.
The drill event is being held on Saturday, June 14, from 7:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
"Plan, Prepare, Evacuate" is the theme of the event, and attendees will have opportunities to find local resources, gain essential emergency skills, practice your safety plan, and create a safer overall community.
SCSO and Emergency Management will be joined by Storey County Fire to help answer questions for anyone in attendance.
The sheriff's office also recommends downloading the SCSO app and signing up for Smart911, which is under the Emergency Management button.
The app can be found by search the Apple or Google App Stores for "Storey County Sheriff Nevada."
