Today at the Eldorado, we got an inside look at updates for both Hot August Nights' 40th anniversary and the Biggest Little City Wing Fest's 10th anniversary happening this year.
Lisa Jansen, the executive director of Hot August Nights, told us they have some fun things in store and that this year you'll notice them going back to their roots a little more than usual.
"It's an amazing event because it goes from generation to generation, and I think people miss a lot of the nostalgia. They miss the music, they miss the cars, they miss the freedom and the fun they used to have, especially when riding in those very cool cars, so I think it really touches their hearts and brings them back every year."
Jansen mentions, "We've gone back to making the cruise a little bit of a different format; we've brought back the prom; we've brought back a few things that people really loved, and also just knowing the area so well, there are a few things that I have just been able to tweak a little bit and work with my team and kind of bring into the next year for the 40th anniversary."
Thousands of hours go into planning Hot August Nights, not to mention they also have 400 volunteers running the show.
"You can talk to anybody about their car and learn a lot of history; it's just really fun," says Jansen.
Tony Marini, the vice president for Caesars Entertainment, speaks on the events: "I think the two back-to-back weeks are going to be a huge two weeks in downtown Reno and across; I mean, Hot August Nights spreads all across, and all of the partners they have, so we have a great opportunity to continue the success two weeks in a row back-to-back and blow it up. Everyone is going to be talking about Reno for two weeks straight, whether it's chicken wings or Hot August Nights."
He adds, "We look forward to everyone coming out; we need the help because we can't eat all these wings ourselves."
