FEBRUARY 12, 2024:

More details are emerging in a double homicide that happened in north Reno on Friday afternoon.

In an arrest report from the Reno Police Department, 17-year-old suspect Mashenka Reid reportedly called 911 and told a dispatcher "I just couldn't resist the urge to kill somebody," when she was asked what happened.

Reid's father and younger brother were found dead inside an apartment on Silver Sky Parkway, while her sister was found alive when an officer kicked in a door to a locked bedroom.

The arrest report details the timeline of events surrounding the double homicide.

A neighbor was the first one to call in the shootings according to the report. They reportedly heard muffled gunshots and people saying "help, help."

911 then got a call from Mashenka Reid, who told the dispatcher "I shot my dad." When the dispatcher tried to ask another question Reid responded by saying "I shot my brother," before saying "my brother's dead."

Reid said she dropped the gun, which she identified as a Walther PPS, inside the apartment.

When the first officer arrived on scene around 4:17 p.m. Reid was detained and placed on the floor of the apartment while the officer checked the welfare of others in the apartment.

REMSA arrived on scene around 4:30 p.m. and pronounced both the father and brother dead.

Reid was taken to the main station of the Reno Police Department where she was read the juvenile Miranda Admonishment and asked if she wanted to speak with law enforcement, whereupon she declined to speak.
