UPDATE (10:30am):
The Storey County Sheriff's Office says it was dispatched to a reported bomb threat at Virginia City High School just after 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The high school was cleared of all people and a perimeter was established. No students were present at the high school at that time.
Bomb detection K9's and their handlers from neighboring agencies were dispatched to the school and conducted a sweep for possible explosives. No threats were detected.
The threat has been determined unfounded. Deputies say there is no threat to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.Â
Out of an abundance of caution and due to police activity in the area, classes were canceled at the high school for the day.Â

Virginia City High School has canceled all classes for today - the rest of the schools in the Storey County School District are still starting two hours late this morning.

Schools in the Storey County School District (SCSD) will be starting two hours late today, due to an issue in progress at Virginia City High School.
According to a post shared by the Storey County Sheriff's Office on Facebook, SCSD is working with local law enforcement in regards to an "issue" impacting Virginia City High School.
Neighbors in the area are being asked to avoid the area of the High School and R Street in Virginia City.
The school says that there is not currently any action required from families.
