A retired Washoe County Sheriff's Office K9 is getting new recognition, this time on a whiskey bottle designed to support the dogs still serving the community.

Reno-based 10 Torr Distilling & Brewing will release its limited-edition Whiskey Business bottle featuring K9 Ava on Nov. 6, with $5 from each bottle sold going to Washoe County K9 Partners. The organization supports canine programs at both the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and the Reno Police Department.

The release party is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Nov. 6 at 10 Torr's tasting room, located at 490 Mill St. Bottles will sell for $60 each while supplies last.

The whiskey follows a similar fundraiser from last year, which featured K9 Jett. That release, called Rum With the Big Dogs, sold out, with proceeds benefiting the K9 Partners program.

This time, the distillery is swapping rum for whiskey but keeping the focus on the dogs and the people who work alongside them.

The money raised will help pay for training, equipment, and medical care for the county's K9 teams.

“We’ve seen these K9 teams in action, and it’s hard not to be amazed by these dogs and the bond they share with their handlers,” said Jamie Evans, CEO of 10 Torr Distilling & Brewing. “They give so much to our community, and we’re proud to give a little back, with our customers right there alongside us.”

Whiskey Business features notes of cherry cola, black pepper, and leather. The limited-edition bottles will be available beginning on Nov. 6 at the tasting room.
