Hazy skies, Nov. 8

A combination of area prescribed burns and a stagnant inversion layer is causing hazy skies across the Reno-Sparks area.

Air quality is now in the 'unhealthy' range across Reno, at the time of this writing. The air quality near the actual burns are currently unhealthy for sensitive groups range.

CAL FIRE is conducting controlled burns in the Waddle Ranch area of Placer County near the Truckee Tahoe Airport, planned through possibly Saturday.

CAL FIRE says it will reassess throughout the day.

Highs will be in the lower to mid 50’s with lots of sunshine. Winds will be light as well.

Friday will be a fantastic day with highs closer to average, and around 60 degrees. High pressure is in place.

Our next storm arrives on Monday.Â
