The Governor's Technology Office (GTO) announces that the Brady Firearms Unit Background Check System is fully operational as of 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 14.

The background check system went down following the recent cyberattack affecting Nevada's operations.

The Governor's Office says, "licensed dealers can submit background checks electronically via the Federal Firearms License (FFL) portal beginning at 8:00 a.m."

The Brady Unit phone support has also been restored, according to the Govenor's Office.

The Govenor's Office also said, "To reduce call volume and serve all dealers more quickly, FFLs with portal access should use the portal for all submissions."

Officials say they will maintain a three-business-day legal deadline for making background check decisions.

The Governor's Office expects some transactions to remain in “pending review” status for longer than normal and will work fast to get them done.
