Reno first responders joined forces Tuesday morning for hands-on training designed to improve coordination and patient care.

Care Flight, a service of REMSA Health, and Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue (TMFR) conducted exercises that brought together air and ground crews to navigate realistic emergency scenarios.

Participants worked in teams, pairing TMFR providers with Care Flight flight nurses and paramedics.

Each team navigated simulated incidents, then took part in debrief discussions to evaluate performance, teamwork, and communication.

The training included mock injuries using patient mannequins, as well as a house fire scenario requiring crews to practice fire suppression and safe patient rescue.

Ground ambulances were included to mimic patient transport to emergency rooms, giving teams a full picture of how to coordinate during real emergencies.

The exercises are designed to help first responders improve teamwork, coordination, and clinical skills, ensuring they can provide high-quality care for patients and callers across Washoe County.
