The Carson City School District has completed, or is on track to complete by mid-August 2026, a series of campus improvement projects at schools and facilities across the district.
The upgrades are designed to enhance learning environments, improve safety and accessibility, and support students and staff ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
Projects completed or underway across the district include a variety of maintenance, safety and infrastructure improvements:
- Carson High School: Track resurfacing, tennis court repairs and resurfacing, air handler replacement, perimeter fencing and single-point entry safety upgrades, floor refinishing in the main and auxiliary gyms and slurry seal coating work in the drive-through turnaround area.
- Carson Middle School: Gym floor refinishing in the main and auxiliary gyms and exterior building painting.
- Eagle Valley Middle School: Gym floor refinishing in the main and auxiliary gyms.
- Bordewich Bray Elementary School: Hallway renovations.
- Empire Elementary School, Fremont Elementary School, Seeliger Elementary School and Transportation Department: Slurry, crack seal, coating and restriping projects in various parking lots.
- Mark Twain Elementary School: Grind-and-overlay improvements in drop-off loops.
The projects were funded through bond proceeds, which, by law, may be used only for capital improvements to school facilities. Because the summer break provides a limited window for construction while students and staff are not on campus, work began in June and will continue until the start of the 2026-27 school year.
The first day of school in the Carson City School District is scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
