It's almost time for the 'Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off' and that means several roads will soon be temporarily closed around Downtown Sparks.
The City of Sparks says beginning Friday, August 23 at 12:15 a.m. through Thursday, September 5 at 6 a.m. the following roads will be closed:
- Victorian Avenue from Pyramid Highway to Victorian Plaza Circle on the west side.
- Victorian Plaza Circle on the east side from Avenue of the Oaks to Nugget Avenue.
- Avenue of the Oaks in front of the Galaxy Theater, one block east and one block west.
- 10th Street from south of Avenue of the Oaks from the alleyway to Victorian Avenue.
- The alleyway between 10th Street and the Sparks Heritage Museum will be closed from 3 a.m. on August 30 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 4.
- Sparks Heritage Museum parking lot is closed to the public, with space available for museum volunteers and patrons only.
Event parking will be available to the public in the Nugget's west parking lot and the City parking garage next to the Galaxy movie theater as well as the bottom of the Deco Apartments.
The Nugget Casino Resort will be running a free round-trip shuttle service provided by Amador Shuttle Service and RTC.
The Shuttles will begin running on Wednesday, August 28 through Sunday, September 1.
There will be two pick-up locations, Greenbrae Shopping Center at 510 Greenbrae Drive in Sparks and the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center at 1350 North Wells Avenue in Reno.Â
All shuttles will drop off at the RTC Centennial Plaza downtown Sparks at 1421 Victorian Avenue in Sparks.Â
