The Dayton Food Pantry is in need of community assistance after being hit by a car last week.
The car destroyed one of the main freezers and coolers which will limit the amount of fresh food that can be distributed.
"It's huge, it's where we house everything. I mean it houses our frozen fruits, our frozen meats, it houses bread sometimes when we have extra bread which is another thing we haven't been able to get now. It's an enormous loss," said Traci Rothman, pantry coordinator and manager of Dayton Food Pantry.
Some water lines are still damaged, and a full section of the pantry has no power.
Rothman says roughly 200 families depend on this pantry weekly.
Locals have started coming together to try and help the Dayton Food Pantry continue their service while the building gets repaired.
Wednesday, April 17, Dayton Silver N Gold Cruisers will host a benefit car show for the food bank.
The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at the Riverside Veterinary Hospital which is right across the street from the Dayton Food Pantry.
The Food Pantry always accepts donations in person, but if you can't help in person, you can visit www.healthycomm.org
