A Douglas County School District trustee was arrested Tuesday after being charged with two felony counts of embezzlement involving two local school groups.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in an online post, the Douglas County District Attorney's Office filed a criminal complaint against 46-year-old Erinn Miller on Sept. 4. Investigators with the Sheriff's Office arrested Miller on Sept. 8 pursuant to an arrest warrant.
The complaint, filed in Tahoe Township Justice Court, alleges Miller embezzled more than $100,000 from the Zephyr Cove Elementary School Parents Club and more than $25,000 from the George Whittell High School Booster Club.
The allegations stem from Miller's time as treasurer for the two parent and booster organizations. An affidavit supporting the arrest warrant says the alleged activity began in July 2020 and continued through November 2025.
Bail was set at $25,000 cash only.
The Douglas County School District issued a statement saying there is no indication the case is connected to Miller's role as a trustee. The district said the Board of Trustees does not have oversight or control of independent parent or booster organizations and is not involved in their operations.
The district said it respects the judicial process and considers the matter personal. It will not provide further statements.
