Entries are now open for the 2025 Hot August Nights Foundation’s Youth Automotive Challenge.

The event is scheduled to take place during the Hot August Nights main event in Reno-Sparks on Saturday, Aug. 9.

The challenge is a team-based competition open to young adults ages 16 to 21, offering more than $10,000 in scholarships and prizes.

Participants will also gain access to industry professionals and showcase their work in front of a public audience at the J Resort Glow Plaza in Downtown Reno.

During the 2024 inaugural challenge, eight teams competed for scholarship awards.

Low Not Slow took first place with a 427 big block Chevy engine rebuild, earning $5,000.

EVC Auto placed second, receiving $3,000, and Nevada Electric Racing secured third with $2,000 in scholarship funding.

Registration is free and available online at hotaugustnights.net/youth-automotive-challenge.

Each team can include up to four members, and any car-related project is eligible, from full rebuilds to paintwork and more.

Projects can be completed in advance or on-site, and must be documented through video or photography.

Judging will be based on design, functionality, creativity, originality, and presentation.

The event also includes live demonstrations and guest speakers from the automotive industry.

The deadline to apply is July 1.

The Youth Automotive Challenge is sponsored by the Hot August Nights Foundation, Adam’s Polishes, Big Daddy’s Motor Cars, Summit Racing Equipment, and Women with Wheelz.
