Farm animals, a train ride, and the pumpkin patch are just some of the family-friendly activities at the Andelin Family Farm Fall Festival.
Fall staples like the pumpkin patch, as well as carnival favorites like Bumpy Buggies and a train ride, are available for all ages.
Natalie Andelin co-owns the farm with her husband Cameron. She says the corn maze has a new theme this year that people should have at the “tricera-top” of their lists.
“This year it’s a dinosaur theme,” Natalie says. “If you see an aerial image of [the maze], it’s a big T-Rex mouth and it says, ‘Jurassic Farm’ under it.”
There’s an interactive element to this year’s maze that follows the dinosaur theme.
"It's like finding dino DNA and then building your own virtual dinosaur,” Natalie says. “It's a fun game you can play on your phone. And if you don't have a phone, we do have a little card, so you can do it. But it's the most fun on the phone. It's more interactive."
The family bought the farm in the early 1980s. In 2009, Cameron and Natalie Andelin took over the farm when the rest of the family moved to Idaho.
The next year, they started what would become the fall festival.
"It was a one acre [patch] of pumpkins, a hayride, a couple of animals, and a few barnyard activities. And every year we've added more and grown more,” Natalie says.
Five years in, Cameron Andelin quit his full-time job to help organize the festival.
Once night starts to fall, the Corn Creepers take over the maze, which is one of Natalie's favorite activities here.
"I am kind of a haunted house junkie,” Natalie says. “I do love going through. I get scared very easily, so I'm kind of a good candidate. I think I make the actors feel good about themselves."
On top of the haunted maze, another spooky activity lets guests attack the undead.
“Zombie paintball is one of our most popular activities here in the fall,” Cameron says. “Our guests get to get in the zombie bus and shoot paintball guns at our zombie actors, without any risk of being shot at."
The Andelin Family Farm Fall Festival runs every Wednesday through Saturday until November 1st. Zombie Paintball & Corn Creepers are on every Thursday through Saturday starting at 7 p.m.
