A mobile clinic in Reno is providing free eye exams and eyewear to approximately 100 Northern Nevadans in need, giving patients the opportunity to receive eye care and glasses during the same visit.
VSP Eyes of Hope, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada and volunteer Nevada optometrists are providing the services at St. Vincent’s Food Pantry, located at 3435 Eureka Avenue in Reno.
The event is being held Monday and Tuesday this week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Most glasses can be made the same day on board the VSP Eyes of Hope mobile clinic, allowing patients to receive eye care and eyewear in the same visit.
For more than 20 years, VSP Eyes of Hope mobile clinics have partnered with eye doctors and local organizations to increase access to vision care in communities across the U.S. The programs have provided access to no-cost eye care and eyewear for more than 4.5 million people in need nationwide.
The effort focuses on improving access to vision services, as clear and healthy vision can benefit education, employment, quality of life, overall health and more.
VSP Eyes of Hope said 1.1 billion people around the world live with vision impairment and cannot get the care they need for a variety of reasons.
