The Nevada Department of Wildlife is inviting families, children and anglers of all abilities to Sparks Marina next month for two free community fishing events focused on getting more people outdoors and on the water.
* Adaptive Anglers Free Fishing Day with Rebecca will take place Thursday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is designed to provide an accessible fishing experience for people with disabilities and adaptive needs. Participants can enjoy free fishing gear, help from volunteer coaches, games, activities and more.
* Kids Free Fishing Day will follow Saturday, June 13, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Families will have the opportunity to learn how to fish together with free fishing poles and gear, hands-on instruction from volunteers, food, games and activities throughout the morning.
Saturday, June 13, also marks Nevada’s annual Free Fishing Day, allowing anyone to fish in Nevada without a fishing license. No experience is required.
Admission to all Nevada state parks will also be free that day, except for parks that require day-use reservations like Sand Harbor.
Both events are free and open to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and registration will take place onsite.
