Human remains identified

DNA testing has helped identify a woman who went missing in 1982 in Northern California.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office says Marjorie Linehan was 49 years old when she was reported missing from Sacramento County.

They say a portion of her skull was found along Dry Creek near Booth Road in unincorporated Roseville in 1986.

Her remains were sent to the California Department of Justice for testing where her identity was confirmed.

Deputies say the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain unknown, and at the time, no foul play was suspected. They say because only a portion of the skull was recovered, a cause of death cannot be determined.

According to her family, Marjorie was an avid skier, a talented artist, and a mother. Though decades have passed, her memory lives on in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
