Jacobs Entertainment is submitting permits to begin construction of four youth soccer fields, the first planned flat fields in J Resort’s Reno Neon Line District.
The first four fields will be built on land currently owned by Jacobs Entertainment, with two of the fields accommodating 7x7 soccer games and two larger fields that will allow for 9x9 games and 7x7 games as well as youth lacrosse.
The Downtown Reno Amateur Sports Association (DRASA) and J Resort are currently working with Reno Apex to finalize the 2026 travel youth soccer schedule with tournaments over 10 weeks, with plans to expand that to 12–14 weekends in 2027. The fields will all have perimeter fencing, as well as 20-foot-high nets that will be raised during games.
In addition, Jacobs has completed its cost analysis for renovation of the Bonanza Inn. Given recent increases in construction costs, they say renovation is no longer a financially viable pathway forward. As a result, Jacobs Entertainment is filing a demolition permit to allow for future construction with a larger scope than initially planned. The timeline for future construction is still to be determined.
ORIGINAL STORY:Â
Jacobs Entertainment has announced plans to develop several multi-sport fields in downtown Reno to host tournaments as part of a new traveling youth sports initiative.Â
The initiative, which will be known as the Downtown Reno Amateur Sports Association, will be affiliated with J Resort and host both traveling and local youth teams.
Officials plan to construct up to 12 fields over the next six years, with the first four expected to open next summer; as of now, Jacobs Entertainment has secured land for three of four fields.
DRASA’s long-term goal is to develop four flat fields, each for 7-on-7, 9-on-9, and 11-on-11 play, accommodating all youth age groups.
The fields is expected to be compatible for multiple sports, including soccer and lacrosse. High school lacrosse was recently approved by Nevada's state legislature as an official Nevada high school sport.
All four fields will be within walking distance of J Resort and adjacent to ReDirect Athletics, a nonprofit organization that Jacobs Entertainment assists.Â
Jacobs added that J Resort’s first traveling youth soccer weekend is scheduled for June 5-6, 2026, with tournaments expected to continue throughout the year.
