Reno Planning Commissioners are moving ahead with next steps for a new entertainment district spearheaded by Reno Pro Soccer.
The district, dubbed "The Boulevard," is planned for the area near Kietzke and Peckham Lanes.
It would feature a more than 6,000-seat sports arena and a 380-room hotel, among other things.
Reno Planning Commissioners approved adding more land to the project's gaming overlay, and later voted 4-1 to approve the conditional use permit for the project.
They also talked about possible concerns over noise and traffic management.
The city's new soccer team, Reno FC, is scheduled to begin playing in 2028.
Developers say there are contingency plans in place in case the stadium is not ready by then.
The Planning Commission also decided to move forward with two new skyways at the J Resort.
These would essentially be elevated pedestrian walkways connecting the hotel-casino to West Fourth and Ralston Streets.
The motion for a conditional use permit passed four to three, with some commissioners disagreeing about compatibility and public benefit.
