A jury has convicted a Sparks man of Battery with the Use of a Deadly Weapon and Domestic Battery in connection with a violent incident involving his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.
48-year-old Moises Duran-Bonilla, was arrested by Sparks Police in May 2024 after officers responded to reports of a physical altercation.
According to the Washoe County District Attorney's Office, the victims had returned from a date to find Duran-Bonilla waiting for them.
Following a verbal argument with his ex-girlfriend, Duran-Bonilla punched the woman in the head several times and stabbed her new boyfriend three times before fleeing in his truck.
Officers located and arrested Duran-Bonilla shortly after. A black folding knife and bloody clothing were found in his truck.
Deputy District Attorney Jocelyn Ostomel prosecuted the case.
Duran-Bonilla's sentencing is scheduled for October 8 before Judge Egan Walker.
