Law enforcement agencies across Nevada are preparing for a coordinated impaired drivers and riders campaign as part of the Joining Forces effort running from June 3 through June 21.
According to the Storey County Sheriff's Office in an online post, the campaign will include police, deputies, and troopers across the state working together to increase enforcement and awareness focused on impaired driving during the nearly three-week period.
The agency said impaired driving is the No. 1 cause of motor vehicle crashes, injuries and fatalities in Nevada and accounts for 47% of total traffic fatalities, according to ZeroFatalitiesNV.com.
Officials said the effort brings together multiple law enforcement partners statewide with the goal of reducing impaired driving-related crashes through coordinated enforcement and visibility on Nevada roadways.
