A lot has been going on recently at the Shayden Summit Mall in South Reno.

Several new businesses recently opened, and more are on the way including the first Dave and Buster's in our area.

Overall, most people are fans of the growth going on in the area and there seems to be a lot of excitement for it.

One local shopper we spoke with said he loves everything that has been happening at the mall lately.

"You know, being a northern Nevada native, I think it is awesome personally. I think it is great to see growth. It is good to see businesses thriving and I'm proud to say that I live in this area. I also think that being a University of Nevada alumni, it is nice to see people are attracted to this area," said Sergio Cruz.

Construction for the new Dave and Buster's at the Summit is supposed to begin this week or the next, and crews have already begun construction on a Starbucks that will be right across from the new Traders Joe's.

Some people also said they have had good experiences visiting the new Chipotle, as well as Handel's Homemade Ice Cream.

Shoppers told me it is nice to see some of their favorite shops and restaurants closer to home, but there can be issues that come with it.

"I would say that it goes both ways, it is more convenient because you don't have to travel as far but it also produces more traffic, so you know you get the good and the bad, but overall, I think it is not that bad," said William Mclarty.

People also say this growth is a testament to the overall growth that we are seeing all over Reno.
