The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says a 57-year-old registered sex offender was arrested Thursday after investigators determined he failed to verify his registration information.
The sheriff’s office says it received several anonymous tips about Christopher Gayland Short, a Tier III registered sex offender.
The Sex Offender Task Force began investigating and learned Short was registered as working in Lyon County while living in Sparks.
Investigators say Short also failed to complete a required verification of his sex offender registration back in July.
Thursday, task force members contacted Short at his workplace on Mull Lane in Fernley. He was taken into custody without incident.
Short was booked into the Lyon County Jail on one felony count of violating sex offender registration requirements and another felony count related to violating the conditions of his parole or probation.
He is currently being held without bail.
