Police Lights with LCSO badge

Lyon County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to Silver Stage Middle School in Silver Springs on Monday afternoon on reports of a fight between parents and school staff.

The fight happened around 2:10 p.m. and was related to a student-led walkout that happened at the end of the school day, according to a release from the LCSO.

When deputies arrived, they were able to break up the confrontation.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and information will be given to the Lyon County District Attorney’s Office for review and determination about possible criminal charges.

No injuries were reported, and no names are being released.

The Lyon County School District confirmed that they are aware of the incident in a release and issued a statement.

"LCSD understands that students may choose to express their views on local, national, or international issues through demonstrations or walkouts. LCSD does not take a stance on the issues that may prompt these actions," said the statement in part. "The district’s primary responsibility remains providing a safe, secure, and orderly learning environment for all students and staff. Instructional time is critical to student success, and regular attendance is essential. In accordance with Nevada law, students who choose to participate in a walkout during instructional time may be marked tardy or absent depending on the duration of their absence, and these absences will not be excused."
