Nye County officials acted quickly to to find a man who had shot another man in the neck on Monday afternoon.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office received a call at around 4:20 p.m. reporting a shooting in Pahrump at the intersection of Homestead Road and Cactus Street.

Deputies responded to the call and found a man down with a gunshot wound to the neck.

After the deputies provided initial first aid, Pahrump Fire and Rescue arrived shortly after and the man was transported into UMC Trauma in Las Vegas. He remains in critical condition.

On scene, the area was canvassed and through the footage of a couple of outdoor cameras, authorities were able to get an image of the suspect and his vehicle, a black Ford Mustang.

During the investigation, the deputies were able to identify the suspect as Jordan Matthew Rodriguez and found him at his home, with the Mustang parked outside.

Rodriguez was arrested and interviewed, and - as a result of the interview and further evidence that was collected - booked into Nye County Jail on charges of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm endangering the public.
