A man is in jail tonight after attempting to steal high-value items from a Best Buy store in Sparks yesterday.
Sparks Police have arrested 27-year old Daniel Aguirre.
On January 4 at around 4:00 p.m., Sparks police were called to the Best Buy on Los Altos Parkway for an attempted robbery.
Prior to the police's arrival to Best Buy, it was reported that Aguirre attempted to steal two occupied cars in the parking lot of Red Robin - both cars immediately left the area.
During an investigation, a Best Buy Loss Prevention staff member was able to identify Aguirre who fled on foot when approached by officers.
After an on-foot pursuit through the nearby Costco parking lot, Aguirre was arrested without incident after trying to steal another occupied car.
Aguirre allegedly tried to steal two laptops from the Best Buy. He is currently being held at the Washoe County Detention Facility on the charges of attempted robbery, obstructing, petit larceny and possession of a forged instrument.
Sparks Police is looking to interview the people who were in the two cars Aguirre tried to steal in the Red Robin parking lot. Anyone who has any knowledge of or may have witnessed the attempts are asked to call the Sparks Police Department at (775) 353-2231 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900 and refer to case 25-136.
