Lyon County deputies say a man fired shots in self-defense during an alleged road rage incident in Fernley.Â
Lyon County deputies say on Monday Austin Baker was driving west on Main Street with his wife and two-year-old child in his car when he saw what he thought was the same car that had allegedly cut off his wife's car two days earlier.
They say he followed the car to the Wendy's parking lot, when he allegedly pulled in front of it, preventing the car from moving.
And that's when they say Baker got out and yelled at the other driver, with the other driver allegedly placing a handgun on his lap. Deputies say Baker started hitting the other man in the face, when that man grabbed the gun and fired two rounds through the car door toward Baker. One round got stuck in the door, while the other one missed Baker, hitting a dirt mound behind him.
Deputies say that man then drove off to the sheriff's office substation where he called 911 to report what happened.
Authorities say Baker followed him eastbound on Main Street before turning off toward the In-Town Park.
He did not contact the Sheriff’s Office, but was later located by Deputies and taken into custody.
Baker was arrested on the following charges:
* Aggravated Stalking
* Motor Vehicle Burglary
* Child Endangerment
* Battery
